Benzene, colorless, aromatic liquid. Volatile, flammable and toxic. 879g / cm3, melting point 5.5 ℃, boiling point 80.1 ℃. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, carbon disulfide, glacial acetic acid, acetone and other organic solvents. Benzene is an important raw material and main solvent for the production of synthetic resin, synthetic rubber, synthetic fiber, dye, detergent, medicine, pesticide and special auxiliary agent.
